NEWS

  • Soroptimist International of Rockwall is a group of dynamic, fun-loving women who enjoy the camaraderie and satisfaction derived from working together towards club projects and events.  We are all professional women who choose to go above the norm and work towards making a real difference in Rockwall.  We accomplish our club goals by focusing on issues of concern to women and children.  We currently have numerous projects that significantly affect these areas in our community.  We also have a long list of past projects that have impacted the lives of women and children in Rockwall County.

    NEXT MEETING:   AUGUST 7, 2006

  • Soroptimist International. begun in 1921, is a worldwide organization of women in management and professions working through service projects to advance human rights and the status of women. Soroptimists are women of all ages, cultures and ethnic groups. Members represent a wide array of professions, including doctors, attorneys, teachers, chief executive officers of companies, business owners and government officials.

  • A Soroptimist is a leader in her community. She believes that by joining with other women and engaging in awareness, advocacy and action in the service of her community and society, she can make the world a better place for humankind.

  • Since 1921, Soroptimists have been committed to enhancing the quality of life within their communities, improving the status of women and encouraging goodwill among their nations. Much has changed in the world since the first club charter signatories gathered in Oakland, California. Most notable is the fact that the activities of Soroptimist clubs are more essential than ever before. The need for community service has increased along with the numbers of socially and economically afflicted individuals and groups.  Women are becoming recognized for the added burdens they endure as a result of the world social order while, at the same time, gaining respect as decision-makers and problem-solvers. Meanwhile, the sophistication of technology for waging war makes cooperation among nations even more imperative than before.
